Over the last couple of years, I’ve shifted my gift-giving strategy from one of quantity to one of quality. I used to give lots of gifts of varying degrees of craftsmanship for the sake of pure volume. Now, I spend the same amount, but I opt for smaller, luxury gifts.
I focus on luxury gifts, even if they need to be small, because they are the products my recipient has long coveted but would never buy for themselves. As an example, I spent years wondering about that $24 lip balm that celebrities swear by, but I never bought it. I mean, $24 for lip balm? However, I recently received this lip balm as a gift, and I feel pampered and cared for every time I use it.
For this Valentine’s Day, I’ve rounded up a handful of luxury gifts at a variety of price points, from $5 to $350. They’re sure to make your special someone happy. (And if that special someone is you, more power to you!) I’m always drawn to blush tones in early spring, but most of the products I’ve linked to here are available in many other colors. One of my favorite luxury gift selections is jewelry from AUrate New York. I’ve shared my enthusiasm for their very posh, reasonably priced, and socially responsible gold jewelry before (here and here), and I don’t expect to stop any time soon. I have two pieces from them, and I wear them almost every day. Their floral jacket earrings, especially, are so romantic and delicate, and I receive compliments on them wherever I go. They normally sell for $150 and are currently on sale: Through February 8, you can get 15% off your order with AUrate using the code HEARTS15—a rare discount from them!
Another selection I’m really excited about, though I have yet to try it myself, is Paravel luggage. Their entire collection is so stylish and practical, and I would be thrilled to take their products on any adventure. Their Stowaway carry-on is an especially innovative piece anyone would love, being a collapsible suitcase that is also durable, monagrammable, and generally very classy.
I’ve also been a fan of M. Gemi’s artisan Italian shoes for a while, and I think their line offers a lot of great choices for people of any gender. They have some very smart-looking leather sneakers for men and women that I’ve been eyeing for a while, as well as some truly fabulous flats and loafers in pastel suedes. The craftsmanship is excellent, and the M. Gemi loafers I own elevate even my most casual outfits.
On a final note, I believe no romantic gift is truly complete without a note. The promises and affections you share through words are what truly make a day special and will be treasured for years to come.
